Workforce Integration
We support learners beyond the classroom by helping them connect with community resources, opportunities, and networks that strengthen long-term success.
Mentorship & Guidance
Our approach blends structure, honesty, and encouragement — offering learners the support they need to stay focused, steady, and growing.
Power Skills For Navigating
the Workplace
Run Your Race equips emerging talent with power skills and workplace navigation strategies to succeed, advance, and keep you in the room.
Power skills are the everyday habits that help people work well with others, handle challenges, and show up professionally. They’re not about perfection — they’re about communicating clearly, staying focused, and solving problems when real-world situations arise.
While most jobs can teach technical tasks, power skills shape how those tasks get done. They make interviews smoother, reduce stress on the job, and open doors to new opportunities.

Laurie J. Washington, Founder of Run Your Race
At the Starting Line
Welcome to Run Your Race, where personal growth meets real-world strategy. Laurie J. Washington brings more than 25 years of experience in Human Resources, Workforce Development, and Non-Profit leadership. Her journey didn’t just prepare her for this work, it trained her for it.
The Shift in Her Stride
In 2015, while training for her first half marathon, Laurie questioned her coach’s interval method. The response, “Sis, it’s your race to run,” landed with the force of a finish-line revelation. Progress isn’t about keeping up with someone else’s stride. It’s about trusting your pace and honoring the rhythm that keeps you moving.
Building the Course
That insight became the heartbeat of Run Your Race. Laurie now guides individuals and organizations through career transitions, leadership development, and culture building. She helps you lay out a course that fits your strengths and supports your growth without forcing you into someone else’s lane.
Running Beside You
Here, we don’t push you to sprint before you’re ready. We meet you where you are, match your pace, and help you move forward with clarity, authenticity, and confidence.
Crossing Your Finish Line
Let’s work together to create a path that reflects who you are and where you’re going. It’s your race, your pace, your victory.
